Visit of the Chancellor Office
Guided Tour

When chancellor Helmut Schmidt moved into his new office in 1976 he announced that this building "needs the human touch". And so he furnished the building with art works from expressionist artists and sculptors. The impressive Bronze-Sculpture "Large Two Forms" by Henry Moore is placed right in front of the building. The Chancellor’s Office was a work place for several German chancellors until 1999 when the Government moved back to Berlin. After extensive redecoration work, it is now a listed building and houses the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Please note: since it is still a work place all visitors have to pass a body scan when entering the building.

Ayurveda Cooking - Balancing Body, Mind and Spirit
All ancient traditions of the East emphasize the unity of Body, Mind and Spirit. Today, many of us know and practice Yoga and meditation because of their time-tested benefits. Along with Yoga and meditation, Ayurveda has recently been established with many practitioners. Ayurveda originates from the Indian subcontinent and roughly translated means "life knowledge". It includes a many facetted therapeutic and medical system. In Ayurveda, among other things, correct nutrition is seen as essential to health and longevity and to achieving the correct balance in the body and between the body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda identifies 3 elemental substances (doshas) that can predominate in the three body types. However, any individual’s type can be a subtle and complex mixture of these elements. In this class the instructor concentrates on the guiding principles of Ayurvedic cookery, and allows the flavours and aromas to entice all participants into further exploration. For more information please go to www.vhs-bonn.de (course number: 7957). We cook in the new teaching kitchen with modern induction hobs. Please pay the total costs for cooking ingredients of 10 EUR at the first lesson directly to your teacher. The course is suitable for anyone with a level A2/B1 in English.

Achieving equity and climate justice
The Green Climate Fund in Africa

Ensuring equity and climate justice is a key challenge in fighting climate change through an African lens. While climate finance can effectively contribute to a low carbon and climate resilient development pathway, civil society from Africa faces significant challenges to engage in the design and implementation of projects and programmes funded by the entities entrusted under the Financial Mechanism of the UN Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

It is the case with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) which supports mitigation and adaptation efforts of Least Developed Countries, Small Islands Developing States and African nations.

Jean Paul Brice Affana is a Policy Advisor at Germanwatch e. V., with a focus on Africa and the Global South. He will analyze key challenges which limit African civil societies’ engagement in the GCF processes, and explore ways to strengthen that engagement and make it effective towards equity and climate justice.
