‘GLOBAL INEQUALITIES’ - 2018 DEUTSCHE WELLE GLOBAL MEDIA FORUM
The 11th edition of the Global Media Forum (GMF) hosted by Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcaster, will take place from June 11-13 in the World Conference Center in Bonn. This year’s focus will be on ‘Global Inequalities’. Inequality is widespread: From political and economic power relations to social issues and digitalization.
Under the theme "Global Inequalities," around 2,000 representatives worldwide from the fields of journalism, digital media, politics, culture, business, development, academia and civil society will discuss the potential of media and digital developments to enable equal access to knowledge, power and participation.
The Global Media Forum also provides a unique opportunity to network, get inspired and collaborate using a wide variety of state-of-the-art formats.
One of the highlights is the panel discussion "Closing the digital gender gap" hosted by Gender@International Bonn on June 11, 2018. The session will showcase best-practices from Asia, Africa and Germany and focus on finding new approaches and solutions on how digital technologies can be used to foster emancipation, economic empowerment and personal development of women and girls.
